Episode 5

Why didn’t anyone speak up?

From age eight, Lacey was sexually abused by her father—a trusted schoolteacher—while her family and community looked away. Repeated disclosures as a child were ignored or dismissed, and she spent years numbing her pain with drugs, risky relationships, and self-harm. Though she escaped and built a life helping children, she still battles PTSD and night terrors. Her story is a searing call to break the silence around incest: Children are speaking. It’s on all of us to listen—and act.
